A client from Hanover, Pennsylvania, stopped by Westminster Speed and Sound with his beautiful 1968 Chevrolet Chevelle convertible. As you can see in the pictures, this car is stunning! He wanted to upgrade the stereo system in his car while keeping the integrity intact. After looking over it with him, we worked up a proposal that he liked, so we set time to work on the vehicle.
Our team began by installing a Custom Autosound USA- 740 period correct radio in the dash. It gives the owner Bluetooth for music streaming, as well as an AM/FM tuner and a USB port. Since this car came with a single speaker in the dash, we added a set of custom Autosound replacement kick panels. We had them dyed to match the factory red interior and then installed a set of high-quality 6.5″ coaxial speakers. We even dyed the grilles for that little extra touch. We also installed a new radio antenna installed to maximize reception.
Normally, we would run all new wiring in any classic car installation, but in this instance, the wiring had been updated recently, so we only had to run speaker wiring.
As you can see in the final pictures, the system looks great and doesn’t detract from the classiness of the Chevelle. When the client came to pick up his Chevy, he loved the attention to detail by our team and, of course, the improved sound quality and playback options.
