A client from Taneytown came to Westminster Speed & Sound looking for a 2014 Jeep Cherokee backup camera solution to enhance his driving safety. Our team went out to his vehicle and looked it over with him, exploring ideas and options. When we realized he had the 8.4″ touchscreen in the dash, we suggested using it for the camera display and he liked our idea.
On the day of the installation, we pulled the vehicle into our bay and performed a detailed check in to ensure everything was in proper working condition. Our technician used an interface that allowed the factory screen to display the backup camera image whenever it was in reverse. The camera image can also be “forced on” while driving by a button sequence on the steering wheel.
At the rear of the vehicle, we installed a camera at the top of the license plate, centered on the Cherokee. We chose a low-light camera so the driver could have a usable image even in dimly lit areas. After the installation was finished and we did our detailed check-out procedure, we returned the Jeep to the client.
He loved the finished look, marveling at the factory fit and finish of his new camera system.
