Westminster Speed and Sound was one of the first retailers in the Mid-Atlantic to offer Android Auto. If you own an Android-based smartphone running 5.0 or above, this exciting technology is available for your phone. Imagine being able to safely harness the power of your smartphone while driving. With just a single push on the touchscreen of your new Android Auto stereo system, you have almost complete control over several popular functions, all via voice control.
Text and Make Phone Call Safely while Driving
Let’s say you are driving along the road and decide you want to make a phone call. With a simple tap on the mic button at the top right of your new Android Auto-equipped stereo system, you can now tell Google Voice that you want to make a call or text someone, via voice control. When a call comes in, the screen displays the call and you can answer it with a single button press. If it happens to be an inbound text message, you get a notification bar across your screen. With a single tap, Android Auto announces the text and reads it to you, as well as giving you an opportunity to respond back.
Do you see a trend? A single button push and then voice control. How easy is that?
Full Control over Google Maps
Now let’s say you want to use Google Maps to take you to a new destination. You know it is a pain to look down at your phone and try to read the small screen. You won’t have to do any of that any longer. Just push that now-famous mic button on the top left of the stereo screen and tell Google where you want to go. It may be 123 Main Street in Hanover, Pennsylvania. Google will find the shortest route and offer to lead you there. The map image will display on your big stereo screen in easy view of the road ahead. When it is time for a turn, the system will mute your music and announce the turn through your car speakers. Doesn’t this sound great?
Lots of Music Options
Let’s say you want to play music other than what is on the radio. Maybe Pandora, Spotify or even Google Music? Again, all you have to do is touch that magical mic button on the top right and ask it to play what you want to hear. Talk about a great way to pass the time during your commute to work …
Hear and Set Reminders
Did you set a reminder on your phone to remind you to do something? If so, you will get a notification and the option to hear the specifics. Or maybe you realize you need to do something and don’t have time to pull over and enter it into your phone. No worries: Just press that mic button and set that reminder via voice. Now you have an easy way to remember important details that seem to slip your mind while driving.
Extra Options Galore
When you stop in at Westminster Speed and Sound to see the solutions we have for your vehicle, you will also find we have lots of options available for you, not just Android Auto. Have you always wanted a backup camera? Or maybe a blind spot detection system? Would you like to have better sound? Even a forward collision avoidance system? We can do one or all of these great enhancements to your vehicle.
