We have designed and installed thousands of remote starter systems for clients in Maryland and southern Pennsylvania. Our solution-based approach to system configuration ensures our clients get the remote car starter features they want. Read on for answers to some of our customers’ questions about remote starters.
What Influences Remote Control Range?
Larger buildings, like factories or hospitals, built with thicker concrete can reduce the range of a remote. Dense urban areas have a lot more signal interference than rural areas, and that can also reduce range. Letting us know where you’ll be using your remote starter will help us make sure you get the performance you need.
What is Manual Transmission Reservation Mode?
When we install a remote starter on a vehicle with a manual transmission, we need to be sure that it cannot start while in gear. To enable reservation mode, stop the car, press the brake pedal, set the parking brake and turn the ignition off. The engine will continue to run until you close the last door. After all the doors are closed, the engine will shut down. The vehicle is ready to be started remotely as long as all the doors have remained closed.
Can a Remote Starter Work with Keyless Entry and Push-to-Start Vehicles?
We can usually integrate a remote starter into vehicles with keyless entry and push-to-start ignitions quite easily. You can start the car or truck remotely, then unlock it when you arrive at the vehicle and get in. Turn the ignition on as you would if the engine weren’t running, then drive away. It’s that simple.
How Much Runtime Can I Get?
When the temperature drops below 30 in the winter, it takes a while to warm up your vehicle. Likewise, cooling your car off in the summer isn’t instantaneous. We can program our remote starters for extended run times to make your vehicle comfortable when it’s time to leave.
How Long Do Remote Batteries Last?
Remotes that use AAA batteries often provide four to six months of operation before the battery needs to be replaced. Coin cell batteries used in smaller remotes often last more than a year, and can last as long as three years. The lifespan of a remote battery depends on how often you use the system and the quality of battery. Let us know if you need help replacing a battery.
