The United States government has been in the midst of a long, uphill battle to mandate backup cameras as standard equipment on all light duty vehicles since 2008, when the Cameron Gulbransen Kids Transportation Safety Act was passed. The thought process is that having these installed on all vehicles will save about 100 lives per year. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has been putting proposals to the government ever since to get the ball rolling. Here is a link to a recent article on the topic:
I have personally owned backup cameras on my vehicles for several years, long before they were an option on some vehicles. To put it quite simply, they work. They make you a better driver if you use the technology effectively. I have also owned backup sensors, which are small, quarter sized sensors that get flushed into your bumper and alert you audibly when you are getting close to something. Using these is tandem with a backup camera dramatically lowers the potential for damage, and much more importantly, injury or loss of life.
The good news is that we can install this technology in the vehicle you are currently driving. You do not need to buy a new vehicle. You just need to contact us. Our sales consultants are highly trained in this technology and will help you find the perfect solution for you and your vehicle.
