A client from Ellicott City reached out to us about upgrading the speakers in his 1992 Porsche 911 after reading about us on our website. One of our team members met with him and his 964 series to explore the options available. He expected the vehicle’s integrity to be maintained and for it to continue looking stock. After one quick listen, we could tell the original speakers were in bad shape, but as you can see in the pictures, they were beyond worn out.
As this car is a driver and not a museum piece, the normal wear and tear that occurs over 32 years were clearly evident in some areas. Our technician did his best to straighten any bent grills and fix broken mounts that occur as part of the joy of driving. As shown in the pictures, the final result looked fantastic.
Two sets of Infinity speakers were chosen as they work well with the original radio in the dash. A set of REF5030CX 5.25″ component speakers was installed in the doors, and a set of REF6432CFX speakers was installed in the rear parcel shelf.
In the end, the stereo system sounded better than when it was brand new, as our speakers are of higher quality than the factory Porsche speakers. When the client came to pick up his 911, he was very pleased with the care we took with his modern classic.
