A client from Dundalk reached out to Westminster Speed and Sound about upgrading the stereo system in his beautiful 2019 Harley-Davidson Street Glide. One of our team spent time with the client to get to know him better. He listened to our store demo bike and went over goals for the upgrade with us. When the consultation was finished, we worked up a proposal that he liked, so we set time to begin working on the bike.
2019 Harley Street Glide Needs Radio Flashed
Once the bike was in our bay, the first order of business was to do a software flash on the radio. This Street Glide had the complete touchscreen radio that is new for 2019 and a really cool piece. The downside is that Harley creates a sound “curve” that is designed to protect their inexpensive speakers from blowing at the expense of sound quality. Fortunately, we can solve that with our diagnostic equipment. Once we completed this process, the bike was ready to have the upgraded equipment installed.
Upgraded Arc Audio Speakers Make all the Difference
The next step in the upgrade path was to remove the “upgraded” Harley Boom speakers and install the Arc Audio Moto602 versions. These speakers were designed from the ground up for a motorcycle and its acoustical environment. As you can see in the pictures, they have a much larger motor structure and use a cast-aluminum frame to aid in cooling. The end result is a speaker with dramatically improved output, better longevity and remarkably good sound.
An Amplifier Makes the Music Come Alive
The next step in the stereo upgrade for the bike was to install an amplifier. As you already know, riding at speed means a lot of road and wind noise. To overcome that, you need power, and lots of it. Fortunately, Arc Audio also makes dedicated motorcycle audio amplifiers. The Moto600.4 packs more than 600 watts of clean power in a small chassis that will work fine with the stock charging system on a Harley. As you can see in the pictures, it fits perfectly on top of the factory radio
The Install is as Important as the Product
Year after year, Westminster Speed and Sound does more and more “Harley Rescues.” Clients will contact us after a buddy or even an “expert” installed a stereo on their bike, and to be blunt, did a lousy job. People experience bad sound, broken parts, poor performance, the system cutting on and off, and so forth. The good news is when we do an install, those things don’t happen. Our team solders every connection and applies heat shrink to protect the system from weather. We neatly loom and secure all wiring to allow for easy servicing in the future. In this bike, we used a dedicated wiring harness so none of the factory wiring had to be modified.
Once the install is finished, one of our master techs takes all the time needed to tune the system for maximum sound quality and output.

When the client came to pick up the bike, he was thrilled with the outcome. It had loads and loads of output and the sound made you want to listen for hours. For even more sound, he is considering the Rockford Fosgate TMS69BL14 baglid speaker upgrade, which works perfectly with the amplifier already installed.
