A repeat client from Finksburg contacted the team at Westminster Speed and Sound to discuss upgrading his 2020 Toyota Tundra with a selection of accessories. He wanted the body wrapped in paint protection film and asked about adding floor mats, side steps and a bed cover. He also mentioned that the doors of the truck had a hollow and tinny sound when closed. One of our product specialists reviewed each proposed solution with the client to create a truck accessory package that would make this Tundra function and feel like Rolls Royce built it.
Paint Protection Film Package
The client brought the truck directly from the dealership, and it arrived with less than 50 miles on the odometer. Being new meant that there wasn’t any existing paint damage that would need to be addressed before we applied 3M Scotchgard Pro paint protection film. We applied the film to the entirety of the truck to protect it from stone chips, scratches, scuffs and stains from bird droppings or road tar.
Tundra Truck Accessory Upgrades
Next, our technicians installed a set of AMP Research PowerStep motorized running boards on the Tundra. These steps feature an aluminum extrusion that fits up tight to the rocker panel to ensure excellent ground clearance and aerodynamics while driving. As soon as one of the doors is opened, the steps fold down to make it easy to get in or out of the vehicle.
We added a Bedstep flip-down step by the rear bumper on the driver’s side of the vehicle. The step can be lowered easily using your foot to make getting into the back of the truck much easier.
The client’s concerns of protecting the contents of his truck bed were addressed with the addition of a Retrax PRO MX bed cover. The aluminum cover mounts flush in the bed, giving a clean look when closed.
We finished the protection and convenience upgrades with a set of WeatherTech Floor Liner mats. These molded floor mats fit the contours of the vehicle perfectly to keep mud, sand and snow away from the carpet. The design will also capture small spills and help maintain the value of the vehicle.
Sound Deadening Upgrade Adds Silence
We finished this truck accessory project by installing our Stage 3 sound deadening upgrade to the doors. By adding energy-absorbing material to the inner and outer door skins, and a layer of closed-cell foam to the back of the trim panels, the doors now close with a solid thud. The deadening dramatically reduces background noise in the vehicle, so the already quiet interior is even quieter.
