A client from Gettysburg rode in with his 2016 Harley-Davidson Street Glide in search of an audio upgrade. We have specialized in upgraded stereo systems in Harleys for 24 seasons, so we were ready and able to help this person have tunes that sounded great, could be heard at speed, and, of course, were reliable. After looking over the bike and discussing options, this client chose our stage 2 solution.
We begin by flashing the stock Harley radio to help eliminate the nasty equalization curve they add to the music. Next, we add more power so the music can be heard at speed. This package uses our Cicada CX150.4D, which provides over 600 watts of clean power to the system. The amp is securely mounted in the fairing and uses a Cicada amplifier wiring kit that seamlessly integrates it into the stock wiring.
Now that the street glide amplifier upgrade is handled, we needed some great-sounding speakers that were also efficient. We went back to Cicada, using their CX65.2 6″ coaxial speakers in the fairing and a pair of the CX69.2 6×9″ coaxials that we flushed into the rear bag lids. Of course, quick disconnects were used for the bag lid speaker wiring to make it easy to remove the bags when cleaning the bike.
Once the system is completely installed and tuned, we give it back to the owner so they can begin enjoying their crisp, clear music while cruising down the highway.
