Our long-time client from Towson recently contacted us about upgrading the stereo on his 2024 Honda Goldwing Tour motorcycle. We had just finished upgrading the client’s Harley-Davidson CVO Road Glide ST, and he wanted to make the Honda sound similar. We had upgraded another Goldwing he owned many years ago, and we planned to take advantage of the advancements in amplifiers and speakers since then.
Honda Goldwing Speakers
The first order of business was to upgrade the speakers. We removed the factory-installed 4-inch speakers and enlarged the mounting locations to accept larger drivers. We installed a set of Precision Power MAS.52 5.25-inch coaxial speakers to improve the lower midrange response and warm up the system. These speakers feature a titanium-dome tweeter and a heat-resistant polypropylene cone for great output capabilities.
For rear speakers, our fabrication team created a set of mounting adapters so we could use a pair of Helix i3 coaxial drivers. The new front and rear speakers are concealed behind the factory grilles for a neat and tidy appearance.
DSP Motorcycle Amplifier
The next step was integrating a Match UP6DSP amplifier into the audio system. This ultra-compact amplifier boasts six channels of amplification, rated for up to 65 watts of power into a three-ohm load. The amp also features a flexible digital signal processor that we used to fine-tune the system, delivering smooth and natural sound from each driver. We added a high-pass filter to ensure none of the drivers would bottom out when playing bass-heavy music. Of course, we used our RTA microphone to calibrate the frequency response of each speaker at the listening position, ensuring clean, crisp, and clear sound.
The icing on this audio system cake was the creation of a custom trim panel in the trunk to conceal and protect the amplifier. We added the Goldwing logo under the vinyl for a touch of class and personalization. The stock carpet still fits perfectly into the trunk to protect everything.
Baltimore’s Goldwing Stereo Upgrade Experts
We believe the best part of this Honda Goldwing Tour stereo system upgrade is that everything looks just like it did when the bike rolled off the assembly line. The speakers are concealed, and the trunk looks basically stock until you lift the carpet.
The client returned to Westminster Speed and Sound to pick up the bike after a few days. He immediately cranked up one of his favorite songs and loved what he heard. He was smiling from ear to ear. If the stereo system on your motorcycle doesn’t put a smile on your face, drop by our store, and a member of our award-winning team would be happy to design an upgrade for you.
