A client from Reisterstown, Maryland, contacted WSS Westminster Speed & Sound about getting a Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 Laser And Radar system. We spent time on the phone with him and suggested getting together with him and his vehicle for a consultation. He liked the idea and stopped in to see us. Our team looked over the vehicle with him and listened as he explained his goals for the upgrade. After learning his needs, we suggested a system that we thought best fit his needs. He liked our idea, so we set an installation date.
K40 System Will Offer Full Vehicle Protection
For this vehicle, we chose the K40 RL200i system. One of the reasons we like the K40 systems so much is their infinite customizability. In this build, we focused on front detection capability. Our installers mounted the front radar receiver in a hidden location behind the front grille, securely mounted in place. This location allows for maximum sensitivity while keeping the stealth look that is needed for custom-installed systems.
Front-Mounted Laser Defusers for Protection Against Laser-Band Radar
We chose two laser defusers for the front of the vehicle to maximize protection from laser-based radar. As you can see in the pictures, we installed the defusers in an inconspicuous location that still has a direct line of sight to the road ahead. Mounting and positioning the laser defusers is critical, since performance will suffer greatly if they are not in a proper location.
Many shops are more interested in how many systems they can install in a day. We take a different approach. We look at every vehicle individually, and we design every install for maximum performance. One of the reasons this is so important is because the laser units are not just sensors, but defusers. When they are shot with laser, they immediately fire back powerful beams of light so the laser operator can’t get a reading on your vehicle. This gives the driver an opportunity to slow down and avoid a ticket. If the defusers are not mounted properly, it drastically reduces the defusing function.
Our Systems Are Engineered for Long Life
It is our opinion that a client who is going to make a significant investment in a custom-installed laser and radar detector expects and should receive all the performance possible. It is for this reason that we will never short-change one of our installations. All of our sensors are securely mounted in place. We never use any double-sided tape or Velcro. All of our connections are soldered to ensure long-term reliability. We neatly loom and zip-tie all of the wiring to allow for regular vehicle servicing by a mechanic.
Stealth Visual Alert Indicator
On the inside of the vehicle, the K40 system uses a hyper-bright-blue LED for visual alerts. We mounted it at the top of the instrument cluster, giving it a stealth look when not illuminated, but making it easy to see in the event of a radar incident.
Securely Mounted Control Module and Speaker
The control module and audible speaker are securely mounted in hidden locations, again with all the wiring loomed and securely tied up. In the event of a radar occurrence, the LED and the speaker will alert the driver of the threat.
Client Experiences Immediate Results from His Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 Laser and Radar System
When the client came to pick up his vehicle, he was thrilled with the quality of the installation. To make things even better, we got an e-mail from him a few hours later, telling us it saved him from a ticket on the way home from our store! That made our day.
