A local Westminster MD client brought his 2007 Lincoln Navigator to us looking to have a navigation system, SiriusXM satellite radio, and a backup camera installed. This vehicle did not have a true “double din” opening for the radio (4″ tall and 7″ wide) so the choices for navigation systems that would fit right in were limited.
After looking at many options, we decided to custom fabricate a new dash panel and modify the vehicle for a double din navigation system to fit. This allowed us to install a Kenwood DNX890HD navigation system, which has a stunning 7″ touch screen display. The unit looked great in the dash!
We installed a satellite tuner, which showed all text and info in a font size large enough to easily navigate while driving. We also installed a backup camera right above the rear license plate, giving him a large rear image on the touch screen when the vehicle was shifted into reverse. The Kenwood navigation (GPS) system allowed for iPhone/iPod playback and control through the touch screen as well as hands free phone calls through Bluetooth! Finally, we installed an interface allowing his factory steering wheel controls to operate the new unit.
The client was ecstatic when he came to pick his vehicle up. He told us “It looks like Lincoln put that screen in the dash!” We love making our clients’ dreams come true. If you are interested in having a navigation system installed in your vehicle, even if this involves custom fabricating a new fascia, give us a call or Contact Us for more information!
