A Fairfax, Virginia client contacted us about upgrading the audio and technology in his 2006 Porsche Boxster S. He had heard of our expertise on Porsche vehicles and wanted to see what we had to offer him. One of our team members did an audio consultation with him, and they clicked right away. He wanted to add the Porsche Classic radio, which gave him CarPlay and Android Auto in a 100% factory-looking solution. He acknowledged that the original Bose system was getting tired and in need of some help, so we went over a few different ideas for upgrading the sound system while keeping the integrity of the vehicle intact. He liked our ideas and approved our proposal, so time was set to work on the vehicle.
We began by installing the Porsche Classic Radio that we offer to clients. From there, we replaced the factory Bose amplifier with a Match UP8DSP amplified digital signal processor. It fits perfectly in the original amplifier location, and the factory cover goes back on, keeping the originality intact.
The amp provides 160 watts of clean power to the Blam Live 8″ woofers in the doors and 65 watts per channel to the 3″ midranges and 1″ tweeters as well. All were installed in factory locations on our custom composite mounts. Sound damping was done on the inner and outer door skins to reduce any possibility of rattling and also to skyrocket the sound quality of the system.
After the system was installed, our technician sat in the vehicle with a laptop and sophisticated microphone assembly and tuned the DSP portion of the amplifier. The end result is a system that sounds better than any stock Porsche audio available today.
