A client from Catonsville recently contacted the team at Westminster Speed and Sound to inquire about a radar detector and laser defense system upgrade for her 2019 Porsche Cayenne. A member of our sales team talked with the client about where and how she drives so that we could develop an understanding of her needs. Based on the information she provided, we suggested a K40 RL200i detector and laser shifter system to protect her from speeding tickets. She liked our recommendation and scheduled an appointment to have the system integrated into her SUV.
K40 RL200i Radar Detector Installation
Our team started the K40 RL200i integration process by removing the front bumper from the vehicle to mount the radar antenna to the vehicle’s front bumper support. Radar signals can penetrate the plastic bumper cover, so the antenna can be completely concealed from view without affecting performance.
Next, our team set to work mounting the Defuser Optix sensors in the front grille. Because the Cayenne is a large vehicle, we suggested using three sensors to provide good coverage of the license plate area and around both headlights. These locations are common targets for police officers using laser speed measurement devices. The Optix sensors are mounted in the outer grilles below the headlights and are aimed perpendicular to the center-line of the vehicle and horizontal to the road for maximum long-range performance. The third sensor is in the center grille, just above the license plate. We recessed the sensor slightly to help keep it inconspicuous. All the wiring for the radar system was bundled securely and routed along factory wire pathways to the control module mounted under the dash.
Easy-to-Use Speeding Ticket Prevention
This K40 system features a single blue LED that works in conjunction with a concealed speaker to provide the driver with warnings about police radar and laser. We mounted the LED in the bezel around the instrument cluster. When illuminated, it lights up the left side of the cluster. When off, it’s nearly invisible. The compact remote control that comes with the RL200i makes it easy for the client to cancel laser alerts once she’s confirmed she’s traveling at a legal speed.
Baltimore’s Radar Detector Experts
With the radar detector integration complete, we called the client to let her know she could pick up the vehicle. We provided a thorough explanation of how the detector and laser defense system works. She was very happy with the installation. If you’re interested in a radar detector like the one we installed in this Cayenne, we invite you to visit Westminster Speed and Sound.
