Westminster Speed and Sound is proud to introduce the new Alpine iLX-107 mech-less in-dash receiver with wireless Apple CarPlay. This is the first aftermarket source unit available with wireless CarPlay and represents the future of smartphone connectivity in our vehicles. Read on to find out why the iLX-107 is an excellent source unit solution for Apple iPhone users.
What is Wireless CarPlay?
By now, you are hopefully familiar with the communication, information and entertainment benefits of CarPlay and how you can just speak to your radio to perform a variety of functions. Until now, you had to connect your iPhone to a receiver using a Lightning-to-USB cable. With the built-in Wi-Fi transceiver, the information exchange between your iPhone and the radio takes place without a physical connection. After you pair your phone the first time, you are free to leave it in your pocket and enjoy the convenience of CarPlay.
Entertainment Source Options
The iLX-107 includes an AM/FM receiver with RDBS information display and an auxiliary input that is compatible with portable media players, satellite radio receivers or a laptop computer. Your connection to your iPhone lets you play music stored on the phone, or stream music from services like iHeartRadio, Spotify, Pandora, Slacker Radio, Radio Disney or Amazon Music. These third-party apps are designed to work seamlessly with CarPlay.
System Hardware
The iLX-107 features a 7-inch capacitive touch display with a resolution of 800×480 pixels. Mechanical volume, track selection, home and Siri activation buttons are on the screen. We can integrate the iLX-107 with the factory steering wheel audio controls in most vehicles, and the system is compatible with ADS Maestro vehicle integration modules to display additional information like battery voltage, tire pressure, climate control menus and much more.
We can add a backup camera to the system to instantly display everything behind your vehicle when you put the transmission in reverse.
Alpine iLX-107 Features and Specifications
The iLX-107 can produce up to 50 watts of power from the internal amplifiers, or 20 watts using the CTA2006 specification. Front, rear and subwoofer preamp outputs are rated to 2 volts of signal. Alpine has included compatibility with its TuneIt app to set up the 9-band parametric equalizer, electronic crossovers and signal delay settings from your smartphone.
