A repeat client from Reisterstown, Maryland, came to WSS Westminster Speed & Sound with his brand-new 2015 Ford F150, looking for a custom-installed laser and radar detector. We had done three previous systems for this client, so we knew what his expectations were for this truck. We had a conversation over the phone, discussed placement of interior items and scheduled an appointment with him.
For this vehicle, we chose our top-of-the-line system, the Escort 9500ci. If you are looking for the ultimate in range coupled with the least amount of falsing, this is the system for you. It is completely undetectable, making it the best choice for anyone who wants to go unnoticed.
Front Radar Receiver Mounted For Maximum Range
In the front of the vehicle, we mounted the radar receiver strategically above the license plate in a cubbyhole, giving it a stealth look while maximizing detection range. In many pickup trucks, choosing a spot for a radar receiver can get tricky because you can’t mount it behind metal. Some shops will mount a radar receiver where there is some metal in front of it, but that is not acceptable for us. We want you to get the maximum range possible, so we won’t take any shortcuts.
Front Laser Shifters Protect Against Laser Detection
When it comes to the front laser sensors, the 9500ci system uses shifters. This is an important difference because laser sensors only tell you that it is time to pull over because you are about to get a ticket. A laser shifter takes protection to the next level. When the sensor detects laser, it immediately fires back beams of light that the gun does not understand, so you avoid detection. Now, laser sensors have to be mounted in clear view of the gun aimed at them to be effective. Some shops will put them where they think they look “prettier” or are easier to mount. That will never happen at Westminster Speed & Sound. You are making a sizable investment when getting a custom-installed laser and radar detector. Our team of highly skilled technicians looks for the optimum blending of an install that is unnoticed while not affecting their performance. We installed the laser shifters in this F150 equidistant from the license plate for maximum coverage on the front of the vehicle.
The 9500ci system has the capability to add rear laser shifters, and we often add this feature. Most of the time, laser is shot at the front of the vehicle, but in the rare instance you are shot from the rear, you will appreciate having the rear shifters.
Stealth Installation Of Display And Controller For Safety
Inside the vehicle, we installed the display and the controller in the cubbyhole in front of the shifter. They are easily accessible by the driver in case he wants to make a change on the fly. We also installed an audible alerting system in a strategic location, hidden under the dash on the driver’s side of the vehicle. When he is driving and encounters any radar, he will recognize the sound first and can casually look down to see what the display is telling him.
F150 Laser and Radar Detector is Appreciated By The Client
When the client came to pick up the vehicle, he loved the way we integrated the sensors into the front of it. He appreciated where we placed the display and the controller, as he thought they would be easy to both see and use.
When you are ready to have a custom laser and radar detector installed, we invite you to stop by WSS Westminster Speed & Sound with your vehicle. One of our team members will work one on one with you, getting to know you and your vehicle. At that point, we will offer you an installation solution that we feel will best fit your needs.
