One of the most popular topics we cover on Remote Car Starters here at WSS Westminster Speed & Sound is range. So let’s explore the different types of range and why remote car starter range is important.
Short Range Remote Car Starters
Up first are Short Range remote starter systems. These systems still have the exact same build quality as the longer range systems, but are designed for the person that truly is only going to start their vehicle from their house, or when they are in close range of the vehicle when they are out and about. They are also good for the person that wants a high quality system, but price plays an important factor.
Medium Range Remote Car Starters
The next systems are Medium Range systems. These systems will open up many more possibilities for you to warm up your vehicle on a cold day or cool it down on a hot, muggy day. These systems typically work on FM frequencies instead of AM frequencies, so they can penetrate buildings better and are less susceptible to interference from electronics. Now you can start your vehicle from the office, grocery store, church, movie, club, gym, and so on. This makes the system much more convenient for you.
Long Range Remote Car Starters
The third level systems would be considered Long Range systems. These systems would on FM frequencies, but they will transmit on 25 different channels at once, as different frequencies are affected less than others by the electronics that are in the building where you want to start your vehicle. Do you work in a major office building, a hospital, or maybe a school? These systems are for you as they have the longest range of any typical remote based system.
The Ultimate in Remote Car Starter Range
The Ultimate Range systems are the Drone. It uses cellular data technology by allowing your SmartPhone to communicate with your vehicle over the internet. As long as your phone has Wifi or cellular internet access and your vehicle is parked in an area where it can access the internet using the Drone module we installed, your range is endless. Let me give you a great example of this system in action. Over the winter I took my wife to the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra in Baltimore. Parking is very limited so we took the Light Rail. When we left the concert it was probably 20 degrees outside. We got back on the Light Rail to head back to our car. When we were about 10 minutes away from our car, which was at least 5-6 miles, my wife got out her SmartPhone and started her car. When we rolled into the parking lot, we had the only vehicle that was nice and toasty, with no frost on the windows that needed scraped like the other vehicles.
WSS Westminster Speed & Sound invites you to stop by our store for a 10-15 minute consultation. We will go over your vehicle with you, explore your unique needs, where the vehicle gets parked in an average week, and then we will custom design the best solution just for you. We look forward to meeting you.
