A repeat client contacted Westminster Speed and Sound about installing paint protection film on his stunning 2015 Rolls-Royce Wraith. In typical fashion, we got together with the client at our facility and looked over the vehicle together. We talked through different options and ideas and settled on a game plan. A proposal was worked up that he approved, so time was set to begin working on the car.
Rolls-Royce Wraith Needs Paint Protection Film
Most of us know what a Rolls-Royce is, but not everyone realizes that many of the car’s features are bespoke to that individual owner. When someone orders a new Wraith, there is what seems like a limitless option list designed to truly build a one-of-a-kind car for the owner. With that being said, adding paint protection to a vehicle like this just makes good sense. Our team chose the 3M Scotchgard Pro Series film as it is the most advanced product on the market from the company that invented this technology all the way back in 1966.
It All Starts Up Front
Our team began by covering the full front bumper in film to protect it from road rash, stone chips, minor abrasions and so on. While we were working on the front end, we added film to the famous Rolls-Royce grill to protect it from dents and scratches. As you can see in the final pictures, the end result looked stunning.
A Seriously Long Hood
The next step in the protection process was to cover the complete hood. If you ever get to see one of these vehicles in person, you will realize it is long. Very long. And it all just adds to the visual appeal of the Wraith. What it means for us is that a very big piece of film also has to be trimmed to allow for the stainless trim that runs the length of the hood.
Seamless Protection for Both Fenders
The fourth step was to install film on both front fenders. As was the case with the hood, the client wanted the whole area protected so there would be no visible seam. Our certified technicians applied the film in one piece, strategically trimming it out for the logo on each fender as well as for the stainless steel door hinges.
Taking Protection Beyond the Basics
Whenever we do a paint protection film job, we walk around the vehicle with the client and explore other areas that a client may want protected that go beyond our basic packages. On this car, the client opted to have us install film on the headlights, side mirrors, door handle cups, and the door sill plates. Now you may be asking yourself, “Why put film on the sill plates?” And that would be a very good question if this were a normal car. But in this Rolls-Royce, each door opening has two polished stainless steel door sill plates that can get scratched by your shoes when entering and exiting the vehicle. For this reason, we installed film on all four sill plates to protect them.
A Happy Client Makes for a Happy Team
When the Wraith was finished and it was time for the client to pick up the vehicle, we were almost giddy with excitement for him to see the results. From the moment he laid eyes on his Rolls-Royce, he grinned from ear to ear. And that made our day. As he walked around the car, he had a hard time finding the edges of the film, which is our goal for every install.
