A local client recently contacted the Westminster Speed and Sound team to ask about installing a sound system on his 2019 Harley-Davidson Electra Glide Peace Officer Special Edition bike. He wanted to keep the bike looking original, so we designed an upgrade with a high-quality amplifier and speakers but chose a fully concealed Bluetooth receiver as the source.
Harley-Davidson Peace Officer Stereo System
The project started with the installation of a set of Rockford Fosgate TMS65 speakers in the stock locations in the front fairing. These 6.5-inch speakers bolt right into the bike without any modifications. Next, the client chose the Rockford Fosgate TMS69BL14 bag lid speaker system for rear speakers. This kit includes a pair of 6×9 speakers and mounting brackets and grilles that use the lid covers already on the bags. Our team had the covers trimmed and the speakers integrated in just a few hours.
A crucial component in any motorcycle audio system is the choice of amplifiers. The client picked a Rockford Fosgate TM400X4ad four-channel amp to power the system. This amp can produce up to 100 watts to each of the four speakers on the bike. It also uses an efficient Class D design to deliver power without overtaxing the bike’s electrical system. We mounted the amplifier in the fairing using the RFKHD14 mounting bracket and wiring kit to ensure that it would be secure and function reliably.
We finished the project by mounting a Rockford Fosgate RFBTRCA Bluetooth receiver on the top of the storage pocket in the fairing. The client can stream audio sources like Pandora, Spotify or iHeartRadio from his smartphone. The concealed mounting location ensures a reliable connection and keeps the bike looking original, just as the client requested.
