A client from Sykesville stopped into our facility looking for several upgrades for his 2013 Ford F-150. The first concerns were adding a backup camera, CarPlay & Android Auto, and replacing the absolutely lousy factory radio. Many of the 13-14 F-150’s came with this factory stereo with a monochromatic display and many buttons. To put it simply, it looked cheap. Really cheap. The good news is we have solutions to address these concerns. After looking over the truck with the client and submitting proposals, a solution was chosen, and a time was set to perform the installation.
In this F-150, the client chose a Sony Mobile ES XAV-9500ES model. It is probably the nicest stereo system currently on the market. It combines a 10.1″ color touchscreen with lightning-quick responses to your touch, is super crisp and refined, and is easy to see during the day while driving. It combines wireless CarPlay and Android Auto with the Idatalink Maestro interface parts and integrates seamlessly with the steering wheel-mounted audio controls. The factory climate controls also work seamlessly with this new unit.
Our team installed our low-light backup camera, which has better resolution than a factory model during the day and much better focusing and clarity in poorly lit environments. Add in the high-quality audio devices inside this Mobile ES model, and the sound quality even improved with the factory speakers.
