A client was referred to us with his 2014 Porsche Boxster, as we are known to be experts in upgrading the audio and technology in Porsche vehicles. One of our team members consulted with him, and after some discussion, it was decided that a new source unit in the dash with wireless CarPlay and a backup camera were the upgrades he wanted. The product was ordered, and a time was set to perform the installation.
Our technician installed a JVC KWM875BW head unit in the dash that has both wireless CarPlay and Android Auto. An interface was used to integrate with the stock MOST fiber optic entertainment network so we could retain the original Bose amplifier. A Porsche escutcheon was used to give the new unit in the dash a factory fit and finish.
A high-quality lip mount backup camera was installed in the rear bumper, and a quick disconnect plug was installed so a service technician could easily unplug the camera wiring when servicing the Boxster. We flush-mounted a USB port in the center console that allows the client to have a wired connection to the new radio, charge his phone, or play music on a thumb drive. While we had the car, our film technician installed the client’s Porsche graphics on the side of his vehicle.
When the installation was completed, one of our team sat in the car with the client and went over all aspects of the operation to ensure he was comfortable with the new technology.
