A client from Finksburg recently visited Westminster Speed and Sound to inquire about upgrading his 2024 Toyota Tundra stereo system. He wasn’t happy with how loudly the system played or how much bass it produced. After listening to the stereo in the truck, we created an upgrade plan that would deliver on all his goals. He loved the plan and gave us the go-ahead to schedule the installation.
Tundra Speaker Upgrade
The first order of business was to upgrade the speakers in the Tundra. The client chose a set of Helix i3 Series components for the front and BLAM coaxial speakers for the rear. We removed the door trim panels and treated the outer and inner metal surfaces with SoundShield sound-deadening material. This butyl, aluminum, and foam composite will help reduce the ingress of road and wind noise to make the vehicle more comfortable. The noise reduction also makes it easier to hear the upgraded speakers. Our fabrication team cut a set of mounting adapters for the i3 woofers and tweeters. We used expanded PVC for the adapters, as it’s impervious to water damage and will last the vehicle’s life.
Custom Truck Subwoofer Enclosure
The next step was to create a custom subwoofer enclosure and amp rack. The enclosure fits under the driver’s side of the rear seat and houses a pair of JBL Club-Series shallow-mount 12-inch subwoofers. On the passenger side, we built a mounting location for a pair of Helix M-Series amplifiers. There’s an M ONE amp to power the subwoofers and an M SIX amplifier to drive the new speakers. We installed the remote level control in the front of the vehicle to make it easy to adjust the subwoofer level to suit the client’s mood or music preferences. The subwoofer enclosure trim panel is wrapped in black vinyl and includes Tundra lettering embossed between the subwoofers and amplifiers.
Maryland’s Tundra Stereo Upgrade Experts
Our team of technicians finished the installation in a few days. Once done, the client returned to Westminster Speed and Sound to listen. He loved how much better all his music sounded. It was much clearer, and the bass was deeper and louder. He’s clearly been bitten by the car audio bug, as he was talking about returning to have us add a digital signal processor and upgrade the rear speakers. If you aren’t absolutely blown away by the sound system in your car or truck, drop by Westminster Speed and Sound. A member of our award-winning team would be happy to put together an upgrade like we did for this client. If you can’t get to our store during regular business hours, give us a call or send our team an e-mail using our online contact form. We’ll get back to you as quickly as possible.
