At Westminster Speed & Sound, we’ve been offering Android Auto to our clients since it first was released. We’re excited to now announce that a new app has been added, called Waze!
Whether you’ve never even heard of Waze or it’s a frequently used app on your phone, we think you’ll love its new compatibility with Android Auto. At WSS, we are excited to provide another new technology to our clients that will help them get to their destinations on time AND stay safe while driving.
Never Heard of Waze?
If you’ve never heard of Waze, it is ‘the world’s largest community-based traffic and navigation app’. Anyone who has the app joins the ‘Waze family’. In a virtual way, drivers are looking out for other drivers on the road. If you see an accident, traffic jam, police trap or road hazard you can alert other drivers in real-time by updating the map. Yes, this app gives you CURRENT road conditions; something that’s been desired for years. Waze also gives users the fastest route to your desired destination, by taking traffic and other road conditions into consideration. Many people have grown to love this great app and have made it their go-to for all of their driving needs.
Waze In-Dash
A little over a month ago, Waze released their in-dash app for Android Auto users. Now, the picture you were looking at on your phone is displayed on the screen in your vehicle’s dash. All you need is the Waze app on your Android phone and an in-dash stereo that is Android Auto capable. Connect your phone to your vehicle with a USB cable and you’ll be ready to go.
Waze In-Dash Features
With Waze in-dash, you’ll be able to use voice control to get your turn-by-turn directions started. Just say, “OK, Google” and tell Waze where to take you. Any of the destinations you’ve pre-programmed in your app, such as home, work, etc. you can access in a single tap on your screen. With visual and audio alerts, you’ll be more likely to stay on the correct route, getting you to your destination quicker. Also, through the in-dash Report button, you’ll still be a part of the team. Use this button to report road conditions and updates to other Waze users.
Stay Connected on the Road with Android Auto
As mentioned, you will need Android Auto in order to have access to Waze in-dash. If you don’t already have Android Auto, WSS has many options when it comes to radios that will give you these capabilities. Android Auto was designed by Google for Android users to stay connected while they drive. It takes the most used functions of your phone, such as text messages, phone calls, music and reminders and allows you to still have access to them behind the wheel. Imagine being able to send or reply to a text without ever touching your phone! Android Auto makes it possible, while keeping your safety in mind.
